The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) Ambassadors program was established by the Department of Infrastructure and Planning as the 'friends of the rail trail' in 2008. The goal of the BVRT Ambassadors is to provide the local community direct input and contribution into the development of the BVRT.
The Ambassadors are also advocate the safe, environmentally responsible use of BVRT by non-motorised trail users through informational, educational, promotion, events and monitoring efforts.
Established to encourage recreational usage of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, the Ambassadors are respected members of the local community who will provide on the ground support to ensure the sustainable development and usage of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.
The first section of the BVRT to have its own Ambassadors is the Moore to Blackbutt section and was launched in October 2008.
